SPLASH Consortium Joins LINK+ Resource Sharing Network to Strengthen Community Access to Information

Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces, the leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, is proud to announce the Solano Partner Libraries & St. Helena (SPLASH) Consortium in California will join the LINK+ network, powered by Innovative’s resource sharing technology.

SPLASH joins sixty other academic, public, and special libraries that are part of the LINK+ network, connecting borrowers to new collections with faster delivery than traditional interlibrary loan services. Providing access to information is the mission of the consortium, and LINK+ offers a powerful, efficient, and cost-effective way for SPLASH to instantly connect customers to more than eight million additional titles without having to invest in new materials.

Part of the consortium’s strategic initiative is to strengthen their community ties and revitalize how they connect and communicate with customers who live in Solano and Napa counties. With Innovative’s resource sharing solution, customers have access to materials from any of the LINK+ member library collections, and can make these requests from their local SPLASH library branch.

“Innovative created a valuable, much needed solution to the challenge many libraries face: how to leverage your budget in the best possible way, while still meeting the demands of the community,” said Suzanne Olawski, Assistant Director of Library Services at Solano County Library, a member of the SPLASH Consortium. “Bringing libraries together to share resources in a cost-effective way has a significant return on investment for us, and at the same time, we can be more responsive to the community. That’s a big win for us, and we’re very excited.”

LINK+ is a true embodiment of Innovative’s open library experience, where the overarching focus is on achieving successful experiences every time customers interact with the library. With over 29 million volumes in the LINK+ catalog, SPLASH customers can locate, request, and receive materials more easily than ever before.

“Enabling libraries to bring greater value to their communities and the customers they serve through technology is core to our mission,” said James Tallman, Chief Executive Officer at Innovative. “Connecting to a larger network of institutions and resources helps libraries inspire and support our next generation of learners and leaders. We are proud of the work LINK+ is doing to unite communities along the west coast, and we are happy to add another library system into this wonderful consortium.”

Innovative embraces an open development philosophy, cooperating with a wide range of vendors to support library choice in technology, and to enable partner libraries to achieve their strategic initiatives. This is particularly relevant for SPLASH, as the consortium has invested in Innovative’s resource sharing solution, but continues to use CARL•X from The Library Corporation (TLC) as its local integrated library system.

“Innovative has developed a solution that truly embraces the values of our profession and of libraries, and the fact that they are willing to work with other ILS vendors to provide exceptional service and support the sustainability of libraries, speaks a lot to the company’s mindset,” said Suzanne Olawski, Assistant Director of Library Services at Solano County Library. “LINK+ lends itself to a model we knew would benefit our customers, and as the network continues to grow, the resource sharing platform will benefit our community even more.”

LINK+ is open to all libraries in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Oregon who are interested in joining a larger network to share millions of resources. Learn more about the value of LINK+ powered by Innovative resource sharing here.
