Innovative, part of Clarivate, announced that the Miami-Dade Public Library System has launched Vega Discover for patron catalog searches and exploration.
Miami-Dade Public Library System is one of the largest public library systems in the United States—serving 2.5 million residents through 50 library locations. MDPLS was named a finalist in two consecutive years for the 2022 and 2023 IMLS National Medal for Museum and Library Service and has been honored with several awards, including an Urban Libraries Council 2020 Innovation Award, 87 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards over the past six years, and four Florida Library Association (FLA) Awards for Excellence and Innovation from 2018–2020.
Vega Discover is a full-featured discovery tool that delivers premier search results along with a patron bookshelf for custom reading lists, patron account management, library-curated showcases, and smart showcases on related resources and topics. Vega Discover creates an engaging library experience and encourages further exploration through enhanced discovery tools powered by Syndetics Unbound’s enrichment content, such as series data, reader reviews, browse by reading level and more.
Vega Discover is the responsive and accessible discovery module of the Vega Library Experience (LX) suite of patron engagement tools. Vega LX is a cloud-based platform that allows library staff to easily communicate and manage a full range of materials, programs, and services. Vega LX is developed in partnership with global leading libraries to create a complete library experience for staff, patrons, donors, and citizens. In 2021, Miami-Dade Public Library System joined the Development Partner program. Development Partners help shape Vega’s development through advisory discussions, usability testing, and beta testing.
