New Haven Free Public Library launches Vega Discover

Innovative, part of Clarivate, is pleased to announce that the New Haven Free Public Library in Connecticut has launched Vega Discover as their online catalog.

The New Haven Free Public Library (NHFPL), recipient of the 2019 National Medal for Museum and Library Science, opened its first location on the second floor of a building in 1887 and became one of the first libraries in the country to offer a Children’s Room in 1895. Since then, the library has expanded to include five branches in total, where along with their extensive physical and electronic collection, they offer book chats, game nights, storytimes, a makerspace and gaming room, film series, community workshops, hotspots for lending, and more. New Haven Free Public Library has been a Sierra ILS customer since 1999.

“Innovation is part of NHFPL’s DNA, and we’re excited to offer our patrons a modern discovery experience with Vega Discover,” says Maureen Sullivan, Interim City Librarian. “Discover’s intuitive operation will make it easier for our community to navigate our catalog online.”

Vega Discover is the responsive and accessible discovery module of the Vega Library Experience (LX) suite of patron engagement tools. Vega LX is a cloud-based platform that allows library staff to easily communicate and manage a full range of materials, programs, and services.

Vega LX works seamlessly with ILS solutions Sierra and Polaris. To learn more about SierraPolaris ILS, or the Vega LX platform, visit iii.com or contact Innovative today.
