Innovative, part of Clarivate™, is pleased to share that a new version of INN-Reach is being rolled out to customers.
There are now three INN-Reach Central systems, Maine InfoNet, LINKin in Illinois, and the Long Island LINK system that are now live on the upgraded platform. Upgrades for the Biblioteca de Catalunya in Spain is in the planning stages.
What does the modernization of INN-Reach entail? There are three key benefits:
- Sharing Sierra Infrastructure, meaning that when the Sierra system receives updates to the operating system, Java, Tomcat, and Apache, the INN-Reach system will also receive those changes.
- The modernized INN-Reach software will share Sierra’s processes when it comes to installation and maintenance.
- Future features will be released more quickly thanks to the newer technology underpinning INN-Reach.
Innovative is planning on completing the upgrade of all INN-Reach systems by the end of June 2024, which coincides with the end of Red Hat 7. Libraries who have not yet been contacted should be contacted by Innovative soon.
Innovative is also working with Maine InfoNet to explore how to use Vega Discover as the union catalog interface for INN-Reach systems. Discover’s simple, intuitive interface and linked data provide an ideal interface for Inn-Reach.
We’re also pleased to share that the Maricopa County Library District in Arizona is using an INN-Reach network named MAX, which brings together 14 library systems. MAX will provide these systems with a vast, shared collection of library materials to users of each of the libraries.
INN-Reach is a resource sharing solution developed by Innovative, part of Clarivate. It unifies multiple libraries into a shared online catalog, offers patron-initiated requests, and provides cost-effective fulfillment of requests. Customer surveys have shown up to a 70% reduction in shared resource processing time when using INN-Reach. By adopting INN-Reach, libraries have reduced their expenses by 70%, and increased their overall budget by 5%.
