EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, has launched the newest release of the Sierra integrated library system (ILS) with two new RESTful APIs for open integrations, and an additional new feature in compliance with the W3C Web Accessibility Guidelines. Sierra is a powerful, modern ILS that combines complete functionality with the power and scale of an open services platform.
“Library partner feedback plays an important role in both our product and API developments,” said Kathryn Harnish, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy for Innovative. “We are excited that Sierra Release 3.3 delivers on many customer requests and facilitates new types of system integrations. We are committed to making our software open and flexible so all libraries can find the right solution for their success.”
New API Integrations
Sierra Release 3.3 introduces two new RESTful APIs for better integrations on business processes. The new Fines API allows users to get a list of fines and the new Invoices API gives users access to invoices and line item information. With the Invoices API, users can get a list of invoices, get the line item data for a single invoice record, or get a line item record by line ID. These APIs are the beginning of a new portfolio of APIs to support accounting and finance operations at the library.
W3C Web Accessibility Guidelines
As part of Innovative’s continual focus on compliance with W3C Web Accessibility Guidelines, the Sierra WebPAC discovery solution will now warn patrons 20 seconds before refreshing or closing popup windows. This development was prioritized as a direct result of input from library partners.
Sierra Release 3.3 also includes continued performance improvements in the Create Lists and Delete Records functions to improve efficiency for administrative tasks.
The launch of Sierra Release 3.3 marks the fourth enhancement release in 2017, with new functionality and fixes built into each one. For more detailed release notes, library partners can review the Sierra Release 3.3 announcement on the Innovative Supportal.
