Four Public Library Systems Join Vega Development Partner Program

EMERYVILLE, Calif. March 4, 2021 – Innovative, a ProQuest company and leading global provider of library software, announced today that four public library systems have joined the Development Partner program for Vega Discover, Innovative’s new discovery solution. The new Development Partners are Cooperative Computer Services (CCS), Livingston Parish Library, Nassau Library System, and Pinnacle Library Cooperative.

Vega Discover Development Partners help shape Vega’s development through advisory discussions, usability testing, and beta testing. The next phase of the Development Partner program includes working with consortia to ensure Discover offers a centralized search and unique patron experience to patrons across all member libraries.

“As a consortium of libraries, we always want to engage better with our patrons and more easily share the wide array of content available across our systems,” said Robert Drake, Assistant Director, Technology Operations at Nassau Library System. “Vega Discover appealed to us because it will improve both the patron and staff experience for finding and sorting materials. We are especially interested in the smart showcases, which offer lots of opportunities for personalized displays for both individual patrons and larger community groups.”

Vega Discover delivers a superior patron experience by providing a more accurate and relevant search than any other online catalog or discovery platform. Discover’s unique linked data architecture allows patrons to interact more deeply with library services, connecting them with great content they may not have otherwise found. Discover was developed in partnership with global leading libraries to create a fluid patron experience and it’s already being used by early adopters across the U.S.

Discover is one module in the Vega suite of solutions, a cloud-based platform that allows library staff to easily communicate and manage the full range of materials, programs, and services available to their community. Vega is designed to offer a new library experience to staff, patrons, donors, and citizens.

“We listen intently to our development and early access partners to ensure we are truly developing to meet the needs of public libraries and the communities they serve,” said Toni Minick, Vice President of Product Management. “We are thrilled to be joined by these exceptional libraries and to continue our collaborative approach to product development.”

Ongoing development for other Vega modules is regularly reviewed and tested with Development Partners and will be shared in more detail at the Innovative Users Group annual conference March 22-25, 2021.
