Innovative from Clarivate is Elevating Library Thought-Leadership Through Director’s Day Summits

Following successful pilots in Denver and New York City, Innovative from Clarivate is now expanding its Director’s Day Summits across the U.S. and other regions. These intimate, one-day gatherings bring together 10–12 public library directors to surface insights, explore strategies, and foster a peer-driven national network focused on tackling shared challenges.

“Director’s Day isn’t just an event – it’s a reflection of our commitment to partnership, listening, and collaborative innovation,” says Lester Owencroft, VP of Product Marketing at Clarivate. “We created the Director’s Day Summit to bring library leaders together for real, strategic conversations – not sales presentations. It’s a space for listening, idea-sharing, and co-creating the future, shaped entirely by the directors themselves.”

Each Summit is agenda-free and participant-led, creating a safe, authentic space for deep conversation around library innovation, technology, and community service. The emphasis is not on structure, but on synergy where some of the most valuable insights emerge through open peer exchange.

“Thank you for the opportunity to come together and brainstorm the future with some extremely thoughtful peers from other libraries,” says Robert Drake, Director at Nassau Library System. “These are the kinds of conversations I wish were happening more often across our industry. Despite the challenges, they give me real optimism – there are some wicked smart people out there working toward better outcomes for all of us.”
