Level up your library app: Exploring Vega Mobile’s newest features

The Vega Mobile webinar on the latest features brought an exciting look at the newest innovations shaping the Vega Mobile experience. From smarter performance optimizations to redesigned tools and a renewed focus on customization, the session showcased how Vega Mobile continues to evolve to meet the needs of today’s libraries.

In this recap, we’ll walk through the highlights, key takeaways, and what these updates mean for libraries and patrons alike. We will cover previous updates that rolled out in 2025, explore the latest enhancements, and review the upcoming additions planned for the upcoming releases.

  • Dark mode – Patrons can now manually choose their preferred theme: Auto, Light, or Dark, directly within the My Account menu.
  • Enhanced event booking – For libraries using Vega Program integrated with the app, event suggestions are now separated into two groups: Account (linked accounts) and Recent (previous bookings not linked to the main account).
  • Request stock/item – Patrons can now request titles or materials not currently in the library’s collection. This option appears when no search results are found.
  • My List multi-select and bulk remove – Patrons can now manage lists faster with the ability to select and remove multiple items at once.
  • Polaris pickup area selection – Patrons can now select a specific hold area in addition to choosing their preferred branch.
  • “Here” dynamic home tab – This new tab uses geolocation (with permission) to show the patron what’s happening at the library today (including events, programs, hours, etc.).

Coming soon to Vega Mobile:
  • PayPal integration – Patrons will be able to pay library fees directly through the app (Stripe is already available).
  • Account notifications – Overdue, due soon, and other notices to keep patrons informed (currently in beta testing).
  • NYT Best sellers list – Bring the latest New York Times bestsellers directly into your carousels.
