Innovative Vega Discover, Vega Promote, and LX Starter customers will have access to the Ex Libris Status page for improved communications on planned and unplanned events. This webpage will provide transparency around service availability and performance.

On the Status Page, you will find the current system status for regional Vega solution hosted servers, a 7-day history of the status of hosted environments, and detailed 90-day outage information.

What could an AI-assistant look like in patron discovery?
 
At the Innovative Users Group annual meeting, Yariv Kursh, Innovative General Manager and Senior Vice President discussed an on-going research initiative to explore how generative artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance the patron discovery experience when searching and browsing library resources.

Kursh, with help from the Engineering team, demonstrated what an online catalog might look like with an AI-powered assistant. Users could engage in more conversational interactions, asking the AI assistant to help them find a certain type of book or get help with homework projects.

Vega LX Platform Expands Support for Consortia, beginning with LX Starter
 
Innovative is working on Vega LX roadmap plans for consortia support which include developments in LX Starter and Vega Promote, and expanded roles and permissions in LX Starter and Vega Discover.

Innovative proactively solicits library feedback on product development through a wide variety of channels and in 2023, the product management team spent over 2,000 hours with libraries listening to their input.

Themed Catalogs now available
 
Themed Discover catalogs are available for Vega Discover Premium and Consortia users!

Themed catalogs enable libraries to create custom catalogs with unique URLs that tailor the homepage and resources to specific audiences and/or collections.

“Our vision for library experience is that any time a patron engages with the library, it should be personalized, accessible, and effortless,” said Kat Cuff, Director, Product Management at Innovative.

IUG Hackathon Explores Patron “Wrapped” Summaries
 
The IUG Hackathon starts the day before the annual IUG conference, and is an opportunity for attendees to design and create a new feature using Sierra or Polaris APIs.

This year’s Hackathon ”Best of Show” was awarded to Scott Murray of the Saskatchewan Information and Library Services Consortium (SILS) for his hackathon project, “Spotify ‘Wrapped’ but for your patrons” – an end-of-year summary for library patrons showing their checkouts that year, most popular genres and categories, and most unique items. This summary would be similar to the annual ‘Wrapped’ report that Spotfiy creates for listeners and the GoodReads “My Year in Books” page.

Vega LX comes full circle
 
During the IUG 2024 annual conference, Innovative presented the next phase of development to the Vega Library Experience (LX) suite of community engagement and library analytics tools. This phase makes every module in the Vega LX platform available, as well as including fresh innovations for all of the Vega LX solutions, which will be visible by patrons and staff. Highlights include a unified staff interface for Vega LX modules, a membership portal for cardholders where they can manage associated family accounts, and more multichannel communication and notification options for patrons.
