Tom Jacobson: Turning Challenges into Engagement Opportunities

In his role as VP, Executive Library Advocate & Strategist, Tom Jacobson acts as liaison between the team at Innovative and the customers our solutions support—spending his days synthesizing what he hears from one party and parlaying it to another in a manner they’d understand.

“Over the last few years, traditional business practices in every industry have been challenged,” Jacobson said during a recent interview, “What has emerged is a major new theme: customer experience matters.”

Visit our blog to read the full interview, and hear what Jacobson has to say about the importance of engagement and patron delight in 2022.

New Vega Discover Feature: Patron Reading History

Now you can allow users to opt in, view, and interact with their reading history through a new Reading History tab available under My Bookshelf in Vega Discover. A helpful way for patrons to ensure they haven’t already read a book, or locate a book they want to read again, this new function provides links to item records and dates of checkouts. Patrons will be able to search and sort reading history by title and author as well as sort by transaction dates. Reading History updates every four hours to retrieve new check-outs.

Under Patron Settings in your Staff UI, check the box for Reading History Opt-in/Opt-out. Once you have enabled it, patrons can opt in from the Reading History tab or from their Patron Profile settings to log all subsequent checkouts.
