New York Public Library Partnering with Innovative on the Most Modern Library Platform Available
EMERYVILLE, Calif. December 9, 2020 – Innovative, a ProQuest company and leading global provider of library software, today announced that The New York Public Library has joined the Development Partner Program for Vega, a new patron engagement and discovery solution for public libraries.
The New York Public Library serves over 16 million people across 92 locations in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, and reaches millions more online. Their vast collection contains over 46 million items, ranging from books to manuscripts and historical collections used by people around the world.
“At NYPL, we are in the midst of a digital transformation, so the decision to join our long-time partner Innovative to support the development of Vega is of great interest. Our ultimate goal is to make our resources available to the widest number of people in the most equal way we possibly can,” said Stephen Betts, Director of Library services Platforms at the New York Public Library. “We’re especially interested in making sure that our services are based on technologies that can keep up with changing patron expectations as well as supporting our own staff’s needs. We look forward to working with Innovative on this exciting venture to help us better connect our patrons with all we have to offer.”
Vega is a new ultramodern platform from Innovative and is designed to increase engagement with collections of all types, helping public libraries strengthen and advance their crucial role in communities across the world. The first release of Vega includes Discover, which offers interconnected search results that increase visibility across the breadth and depth of library resources. Discover has a fresh, intuitive design that makes it easy for people to connect with content in or out of the library. To ensure the solution is designed for our customers’ needs, the Development Partner Program offers advisory discussions, usability testing, and beta testing for Vega.
“We are excited to welcome the New York Public Library to the Vega Development Partner Program. As a worldwide library thought leader, our partnership with the NYPL is an important voice to ensuring that the solution we deliver best serves library patrons worldwide,” said Yariv Kursh, General Manager of Innovative.
