Farmington Community Library Selects Vega Discover

EMERYVILLE, Calif. November 4, 2021 – Innovative, a ProQuest company and leading global provider of library software, announced today that the Farmington Community Library in Michigan, a Polaris library, has selected Vega Discover as their discovery solution.

The Farmington Community Library in Michigan has two branches that serve over 600,000 visitors a year with traditional and electronic materials, frequent kid-friendly events, and a popular Online Chat with a Librarian.

“Polaris gave our library the freedom to serve our patrons the way we wanted,” said Kathy McKinney, Farmington Community Library Coordinator of Automation. “Our staff can bring the library experience to patrons, instead of waiting for the community to come to us. With the addition of Vega Discover—this is a true game changer. The tools are easy to use because they mimic what everyone is doing online, and it’s great seeing all of the formats roll up under one title.”

Vega Discover is a full-featured discovery tool that not only delivers premier search results, but also features a patron bookshelf with custom reading lists, patron account management, library-curated showcases, and smart showcases on related resources and topics. Vega Discover also comes with enhanced exploration tools, powered by Syndetics Unbound’s enrichment content, such as series data, reader reviews, browse by reading level and more, as part of an engaging library experience. Vega Discover is one module in the Vega Library Experience (LX) suite, a cloud-based platform that allows library staff to easily communicate and manage the full range of materials, programs, and services available to their community.
