New Developments for Innovative Vega Platform

Suffolk Cooperative Library System Joins Development Partner Program

EMERYVILLE, Calif. August 31, 2020 – Innovative, a ProQuest company and leading global provider of library software, announced today that Suffolk Cooperative Library System in New York has joined six other public libraries in the Innovative Development Partner program for Vega, a new patron engagement and discovery solution for public libraries.

The Development Partner program advances Innovative’s products through advisory discussions, usability testing, and beta testing. The public libraries participating for Vega represent millions of patrons and a combined annual circulation of over 10 million.

“We’ve searched for a discovery tool that would meet our patrons’ needs, and we think Vega Discover is a promising discovery solution,” said Nicole Turzillo, ILS System Administrator for Suffolk Cooperative Library System. “The focus on patron engagement and experience aligns with our priorities. We are excited that Innovative is continuing their developments around the context engine and look forward to seeing our catalog through Vega Discover.”

For Innovative, the Development Partner program has been instrumental in building Vega Discover for public libraries. “Our development partners have been very engaged so far and provide us with valuable feedback as we develop additional capabilities into Vega Discover,” said Toni Minick, Vice President of Product Management at Innovative. “There are many moving pieces to designing new software and having development partner input on priorities, conceptual designs, and brainstorming solutions to common problems has been incredibly beneficial. It is exciting to see the transformation of their data as we bring it into the Vega platform and immediately see the benefits of the context engine.”

In addition to the Development Partner program, Innovative also has an option for qualified libraries to participate in Early Access to Vega Discover starting in early September. Early Access libraries will be able to test the Vega Discover solution and provide feedback on usability and services and support processes.

Public libraries interested in learning about the Vega Early Access program can attend the webinar, “Explore Vega Discover” on September 2 at 11 a.m. EDT to learn more. The webinar will discuss the Early Access program, future Development Partner opportunities, and demonstrate the Vega Discover offering. Presenters include Tom Jacobson, VP, Executive Library Advocate & Strategist; Toni Minick, VP of Product Management; and Jordan Fields, Senior Product Owner.
