Innovative Streamlines Material Handling with Mobile Worklists Release 2.0

New features enhance list-making and sharing capabilities

Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, announced today the latest version of Mobile Worklists is now available for download in the Apple App Store.

Building upon the success of Innovative’s first native, cloud-based product, Mobile Worklists Release 2.0 offers greater functionality for developing and sending lists, while strengthening the patron experience. The native mobile app eliminates repetitive material handling with the ability to create, manage and track lists of materials, scan barcodes using the mobile device camera, and share lists to and from the Sierra Library Services Platform in real time.

In Mobile Worklists 2.0, new features include:
•A new user interface for an intuitive, enhanced experience, aligning with mobile accessibility standards;
•The ability to e-mail lists from the mobile device to other library staff, faculty, students, or patrons interested in a specific set of materials;
•The option to e-mail lists as CSV files, to be opened in spreadsheet applications;
•Additional language support, with translations available in Swedish, Finnish, Canadian French, Spanish, Catalan, French, Polish, and Estonian.

“When we released Mobile Worklists in April of 2015, our focus was on staff efficiencies, and we received tremendous feedback from our Sierra library partners on how it transformed their workflows,” said Leif E. Pedersen, Executive Vice President at Innovative. “Today, we’ve expanded the functionality to further streamline the list-making process by allowing lists to be e-mailed to staff—and even patrons! Mobile technology is reshaping our culture and Innovative is taking great strides to ensure our mobile products reflect this.”

With four releases in one year, Mobile Worklists Release 2.0 continues to enable improvements to a variety of staff workflows. These include weeding, placing items on display, generating lists of course reserve items, labeling projects, inter-library loan delivery tracking, and searching projects, such as looking for missing items or items in transit too long. Staff can also manage new collections or relocation projects with ease, moving items to and from storage, between branches, and throughout the library with accurate records of the material locations.

“Mobile Worklists is a regular part of our library work in both technical and circulation services, and it has become an indispensable part of our planning and project management tools,” said Stephanie Schmitt, Assistant Tech Services and Systems Librarian at UC Hastings Law Library. “We used Mobile Worklists to accurately weed our collections, ultimately reducing our total print holdings by 40 percent. Because of Mobile Worklists, we met our deadlines and completed all of our goals in an efficient and effective manner.”

In addition to improving staff workflows, the app brings unique value to library users interested in materials with a common characteristic. Now, staff can create lists by topic, genre, author and more, and e-mail the metadata directly to the patron. Information sent via e-mail includes the full list of materials, complete with the title, author, library location, call number, and barcode.

Mobile Worklists Release 2.0 is a native IOS app and is currently available for libraries on Sierra Library Services Platform. Innovative plans to expand production for libraries using the Polaris Integrated Library System.
