Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, has launched Innovative Knowledge Base Release 1.1 with access to additional title-level metadata and new features for consortia to manage coverage across member libraries.

Central consortia offices using the consortium electronic resource management (ERM) solution now have the ability to view, manage, and update centrally subscribed content and entitlements metadata in the Knowledge Base. As a result, member libraries can inherit profile updates from the central office to reduce time spent profiling and eliminate duplicate work across libraries without sacrificing control over local subscriptions. Member libraries can still view and manage metadata and holdings for locally licensed content, and also view and filter all subscriptions provided by the central office.
To simplify searching, Innovative Knowledge Base Release 1.1 gives users a title-centric experience rather than a package-centric experience when navigating its contents. Library staff can search for a specific journal or eBook title and retrieve all the packages that include that title. This allows staff to find critical titles quickly without paging through package details.
Most importantly, the Innovative Knowledge Base enables continuous, accurate recording, independent of the original source. With Release 1.1, authorized users can edit field data for packages, titles, and coverage, and protect specified data from imported overlays. This means libraries do not have to wait for corrections from the data provider, and staff can make a change in one centralized location without worrying that subsequent updates could overwrite their data.
The Innovative Knowledge Base Release 1.1 is the first major release of the product in 2017, but Innovative delivers updates and feature enhancements to its users every two weeks. Innovative Knowledge Base users can use the “What’s New” feature in the user menu to view release notes and learn more about new functionality.
