Innovative Delivers Native Android Version of MyLibrary!

Collaboration with library partners leads to successful development and testing of patron mobile app

Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, will launch the MyLibrary! mobile app for Android later this month, offering immediate access to library resources from additional mobile devices.

Originally launched as a native iOS application, MyLibrary! is currently in beta for Android and will be available for download in December 2016. By extending its functionality to a second mobile operating system platform, MyLibrary! will allow libraries to reach a wider audience, and offer real-time interactions and a stronger patron experience.

With MyLibrary!, Innovative library partners are empowered to engage with their users in a unique way. For Elgin County Library in Ontario, Canada, having an Android version of MyLibrary! was critical for connecting with more patrons when and where they want.

“We are thrilled to offer MyLibrary! to our patrons who use an Android device,” said Laura Molnar, Library Coordinator at Elgin County Library. “The app is very popular with our current users, and offering a second platform greatly expands our ability to serve our total user base. Our goal is to provide patrons with the best possible experience, and MyLibrary! helps us bring our resources and services to patrons through their personal devices.”

“Delivering open, cross platform portfolios that are accessible, scalable, reliable, and secure globally are at the center of our technology strategy,” said Leif Pedersen, Executive Vice President, Product at Innovative. “Innovative’s mobile developments are a true testament to putting the user experience first, and with an Android version of MyLibrary!, we can help libraries connect with members in the community or on campus.”

MyLibrary! for Android devices will be available for download in Google Play with the launch of MyLibrary! Release 2.0 in December 2016. Future releases of MyLibrary!, including Release 2.0, will include the same functionality for both Android and iOS devices. MyLibrary! is currently available for Sierra library partners, requiring Sierra Release 2.3 or higher for installation.
