Empowering Libraries through Innovation: A Letter from Yariv Kursh

This letter was originally sent via email to Innovative customers on Dec. 3, 2021, and has been reposted with permission.

To our partners,

As I look back on a second year of institutions managing through the pandemic, libraries took bold actions that reinforced what we already knew: Libraries are a vital source of information, service, and support for communities worldwide. As every industry struggled to pivot to a new reality, libraries took this challenge head on—finding creative ways to meet demand in uncertain times. Libraries provided essential services for their communities, helped citizens refine and grow their skill base, developed methods to deliver resources to patrons studying remotely, and so much more. Simply put, it has been your wholehearted commitment to your users that has inspired us to keep innovating for nearly 50 years. Whether you’re using Sierra or Polaris, Innovative Mobile, INN-Reach or the first module of our Vega Library Experience (LX)—Vega Discover, you have pushed us to develop tools that redefine what a library can be for millions of people across the globe.

Taking bold action is what innovators do, and to do it you need strong investment and support. Joining ProQuest brought new focus, support, opportunity and investment to Innovative. Now it is time for Innovative to take the next step. As many of you have learned, Innovative and ProQuest are now a part of Clarivate. Clarivate is a global leader in data, insights, and analytics, and we are excited about the potential this holds for our customers.

As part of Clarivate we have an even greater opportunity to invest in innovations to empower the thousands of academic, public, corporate and special libraries we serve.

I also want to reiterate my promise to you that we are committed to your success. We will continue developing and maintaining the products you’ve grown to love and launch new tools across our portfolio.

From your perspective, everything will be business as usual. Communications channels with our teams, contracts, Idea Lab, Public Library Leadership Council (PLLC) and everything else will stay the same. Please also be assured that Innovative remains committed to the privacy and integrity of patron data.

Thank you for your continued support. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the years to come.
