EMERYVILLE, Calif.—Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, is pleased to announce that Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, has selected the Sierra integrated library system (ILS) with the Encore discovery layer.
During the evaluation process, William Allen White Library sought a robust system that could provide deep backend and core functionality in one product, with the ability to readily integrate with other technology platforms, as well as easily track and edit data. Sierra’s open design and APIs gives the library control to substantially expand functionality and share with vendor partners, while also providing strong reporting capabilities.
“We live in a very statistics-driven world,” explained Michelle Hammond, University Libraries and Archives Dean. “We need to manipulate and navigate data in a robust way. Innovative is clearly on the cutting-edge of database technologies and Sierra will enable us to be as fluid and flexible with data as possible.”
William Allen White Library will move to Sierra from OCLC WorldShare Management Services in February 2018. Previously an Innovative Millennium user, Hammond noted that the library’s prior 16-year partnership with Innovative played an essential role in their selection process.
“We were presented with an opportunity to capitalize on two very important factors: a more robust system and a comfortable, established working relationship with a responsive support team we’ve grown to trust,” said Hammond. “It was a win-win.”
Art Gutierrez, Technical Services Director, said he was equally excited about choosing Sierra.
“There is maturity in the Sierra system and the support team at Innovative is very knowledgeable. We know we are getting top-level expertise,” said Gutierrez. “I am very encouraged by the recent growth I have seen in Innovative. Their emphasis on expanding functionality, like Sierra Create Lists, and products like Decision Center, provides valuable opportunities to serve our patrons better.”
“We are very pleased to see Emporia State University join our community of academic library partners,” said Innovative CEO Jim Tallman. “This is a prime example of a library that truly appreciates forward-thinking solutions and understands the need to keep pace with evolving technology to enrich and grow the library experience.”
