We’re excited to introduce new Vega Promote enhancements designed to help libraries better understand their communities, maintain clean and compliant data, and foster meaningful connections with patrons. Whether you want cleaner records, safer targeting, or dynamic segments that are updated automatically, these enhancements are built to support your evolving marketing needs with advanced segmentation, audience, and privacy features.
Cardholder 360
The latest Vega Promote release introduces Cardholder 360, an automated audience unification capability for Sierra and Polaris ILS libraries that provides staff with a complete, secure, and streamlined view of their communities.
- Related accounts immediately identify patron records that share the same email address, helping staff recognize households or patrons with multiple accounts.
- View email activity consolidates all communications sent to a single email address across multiple patron records, improving transparency and outreach tracking.
- Automatic record deduplication cleans data by merging duplicate cardholder and non-cardholder records, delivering more accurate insights into community engagement.
These features rolled out on November 4 and are available automatically to all Vega Promote customers.
COPPA setting: Automated Age Checks
The new Automated Age Checks setting strengthens data privacy and COPPA compliance by helping libraries automatically safeguard minors in marketing communications. When turned on, this setting:
- Excludes patrons under 13 from any segments built using Date of Birth (or designated P-types/P-codes when birthdates aren’t available).
- Still allows minors to opt in via the sign-up form, which requires confirmation that they are 13 or older.
Libraries can also enable “Require library staff to verify age checks on imports,” which prompts staff to confirm that imported files exclude patrons under 13 and records these confirmations in the import history for clean audit trails. These settings operate independently, giving libraries flexible control based on internal policies and outreach goals. Automated Age Checks feature appears for all customers and is turned on by default, though preferences can be adjusted at any time.
Patron segmentation
Patron Segmentation in Vega Promote enables library marketers to turn raw patron data into dynamic, real-time audience segments for smarter, more targeted outreach. With filter options such as Home Library, Cardholder Creation Date, Card Expiration Date, Patron Types/Codes, and more, libraries can build precise audiences using data already stored in patron records.
Segments can be saved as dynamic segments, which update automatically as patron information changes, ensuring communications always reach the most relevant and engaged audiences.
Deleting segments
A new segment deletion capability in Vega Promote gives customers full control in managing and cleaning up their workspace. Segments can be deleted directly from their detail view, making it easy to remove outdated or unused audiences.
If a segment is tied to a scheduled campaign, libraries can either wait for the campaign to send or delete the scheduled campaign first. If a sign-up form uses a segment, staff can assign a new segment before deleting the original.
