Arlington Public Library (VA) Debuts Digital Archive
Emeryville, CA—Arlington Public Library's (VA) new online digital archive is now available to the public. Students, researchers, genealogists, and the Arlington community now have online access to the digitized portions of the Library's rich local history collections through Content Pro, Innovative's digital collection management solution. Digitized collections include Arlington County Government Photographs, 1915-1997; Arlington Structures and Places, 1996-2006; Arlington's Changing Scene, 1997-2010; Department of Health Annual Report Photographs, 1938-1973; and Photographs of the Negro Recreation Section, 1948-1955.
Stacia Aho, Library Web Manager, says the Library plans to grow its digital collections: "Our first collections are photographs, but we'll soon be adding documents, oral history interviews, video, and even artwork." Using Content Pro, the Library was able to create a digital archive in a matter of months, and staff did all cataloging of archival materials within the system. Aho says: "We chose Content Pro because we needed fast results and an all-in-one solution. It's easy to use, and provides a simple way to both catalog and publish to the Web."
