University of Michigan Selects Innovative's Electronic Resource Management (ERM) System
Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces announced today that the University of Michigan Library in Ann Arbor, one of the largest university library systems in the U.S., has selected the Electronic Resource Management (ERM) solution, which will centralize and assimilate all of the technical and administrative details of the Library's electronic resources.
"Our library is eager to implement the Innovative ERM system," says Rafael Escobar, Electronic Resources Management System Manager. "The functionality it offers will enable us to better manage our large and fast-growing collection of electronic resources and will help us to provide improved end-user support."
The University of Michigan Library has also selected Innovative's Acquisitions for ERM solution, which provides integration and data exchange with the Library's existing third-party integrated library system (ILS). This will simplify workflow by importing critical cost and payment data from the ILS into Innovative's ERM, which will allow library staff to track and calculate cost-per-use of electronic resources and to maintain and calculate other e-resource statistics.
About University of Michigan Library
Since 1838, the University of Michigan Library has been serving the research needs of students, faculty, and the public. Over its many years of operation, the library system has acquired an enormous wealth of diverse resources. Unable to contain these resources in one location, the University of Michigan Library is physically spread over more than 12 buildings housing more than 20 libraries. From 2010-2011, the Library had an annual circulation of 1,085,762 and its collection contained 12,438,418 volumes.
About Electronic Resource Management (ERM)
Installed at over 300 libraries, the Innovative Electronic Resource Management (ERM) system is the most robust solution for locally controlling and managing electronic resources. ERM allows libraries to track resource subscriptions, manage license details, link title and coverage information to resources, and maintain and track usage statistics. Libraries that acquire the ERM system can manage e-journals, e-books, abstracting and indexing databases, full-text databases, and more. In addition, libraries can display information from ERM in Innovative's public catalog and Encore discovery application. ERM integrates seamlessly with the Millennium ILS and Sierra Services Platform.
