The Government of Catalonia (Spain) selects Millennium and INN-Reach

Catalonia Public Libraries Union Catalog to Launch

Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today that the Culture and the Media Ministry of the Government of Catalonia (Spain) has selected the Millennium ILS and the INN-Reach consortial borrowing solution for the Catalonian Public Reading System, one of the biggest regional library services in Europe. The new, eleven-million-item Catalonia Public Libraries Union Catalog will provide access and direct borrowing for users across all of Catalonia's public libraries, which span the regions of Girona, Lleida, Tarragona, and Terres de l'Ebre. Millennium is replacing VTLS Classic™ and Absys™ systems.

The Government of Catalonia has also purchased Innovative self-service products including Program Registration, RSS Feed Builder and My Record Feeds (patron-specific RSS messages), and Community Reviews for patron comments on items in the Catalonia Public Libraries Union Catalog.

About The Catalonian Public Reading System

The Catalonian Public Reading System (CPRS) is the whole of the organized public library services of this European region. In 2008, it consisted of 330 libraries in 249 towns, 11 mobile libraries and a Lending and Special Services Central (CePSE) serving over seven million inhabitants. The Catalonian public libraries are managed by the town councils and receive support at different levels by the provincial councils, the district councils, and the Catalan government. The CPRS has more than 2.3 million registered users, over 1,500 staff members, and circulation of fourteen million items per-year.
