Innovative Announces Content Pro Digital Library Solution

Easy Submission, Multiple Discovery Options, OAI-PMH Compliant

Emeryville, CA—Innovative announced today the availability of Content Pro™, a new digital library solution that exposes collections for greater discovery on the web. Content Pro makes it easier than ever before for staff to collect, manage and promote digital assets. With intuitive submission forms, a powerful search interface, and harvestable metadata design, Content Pro offers a simple solution to the challenge of making the full breadth of digital assets accessible and visible to the communities that libraries serve.

Grow a Digital Library, Simply

Content Pro makes digitization projects easy, allowing staff to focus on adding and describing content. A one-step submission interface, with simple, Qualified Dublin CoreSM data fields, lets staff of any experience level add new content—images, documents, media, and more. Content Pro can give each staff member access to appropriate collections and lets libraries choose the most efficient workflow possible. What's more, staff can bring in large batches of new content, with or without externally authored metadata, or enter information on a record-by-record basis using the Content Pro submission interface.

Greater Discovery

Content Pro provides a simple search interface for finding resources and offers easy keyword searching with Innovative's RightResult™ relevance-ranking technology. Users will also enjoy options such as browsing thumbnail images—at the record or collection level—and targeted searching of a single collection.

Users do not need to know where to search to find the rich resources libraries collect. Depending on how libraries want to deliver their digital assets, Content Pro metadata can be integrated into the Research Pro federated-search engine and/or Encore 2.0 environment.

Fully Unicode(R) compliant, users can access non-English metadata in the knowledge base by typing a native language query into the search box.

Harvestable Collections

Content Pro provides an easy way to expose local collections to the world. Because it is an OAI-PMH-compliant data provider, aggregators like OAIster can harvest them for greater discovery by outside libraries, content repositories, and even search engines like Google.

Easy Implementation from the Start

Innovative offers data migration services and quick start implementation to ensure a successful launch of Content Pro. Content Pro starts working immediately because it includes a robust web interface and a pre-built, elegant "look and feel" option and can be implemented as a turnkey or hosted (SaaS) solution for easy maintenance.

Development Partner Community

Later this year, the six libraries working with Innovative on the Content Pro initiative will integrate local digital content into their Encore implementations. These are Binghamton University [SUNY] (NY); Michigan State University; Scottsdale Public Library System (AZ); University of San Diego (CA); University of Western Ontario (Canada), and Westerville Public Library (OH).

The Solution for Digital Transition

"Libraries are in a digital transition-whether they are several years into digitization projects, just undertaking digital initiatives, or both," says Product Manager Rice Majors. "As the mandate of libraries grows to encompass digital and digitized content, they need a simple tool to manage content that is quick to learn and appropriate for all levels of staff. Content Pro also gives libraries the ability to meet the challenge of making digital collections an inherent part of their information-discovery experience."
