Delivering on Discovery

2010 Academic Library Directors Symposium

Today's library users are able to encounter a library that is more unified in content and more modern in its features than ever before, and Innovative libraries are leading the way! These library users bring a set of expectations with them—born and bred on the web—for ease of use, completeness of content, ubiquitous access, and intuitive discovery. Whether with a laptop or armed with a smart-phone "app" they look for books, articles, data sets, local collections, and media of all types. Join Innovative for a broad-ranging discussion and exploration of issues, challenges, and solutions to Delivering on Discovery.

Innovative's Academic Library Directors Symposium will take place from March 10-12, 2010 in San Francisco, CA and will feature leading speakers and stimulating discussion panels focused on the challenges faced by today's library director. Once again, Innovative presents a very special opportunity for library directors from around the world to meet to share information about library technology and best practices with their peers and Innovative staff.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Michael B. Johnson

Dr. Michael B. Johnson leads the Moving Pictures Group at Pixar Animation. His group is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of the pre-production pipeline for Pixar features and shorts. This includes the story, editorial, art, and review process. His team works directly with the directors, editors, producers, production designers, art directors, artists, and producers who start the process of bringing Pixar stories to the screen. Johnson has been at Pixar since 1993, and has written applications for all of Pixar's feature films (and many of their short films), including storyboarding, "pre-viz," layout, animation, modeling, lighting, rendering, and editorial tools. Dr. Johnson's presentation, "Going Digital in an Analog World," features images and sounds not to be missed!
