Sweden The Nobel Library of the Swedish Academy chose Innovative’s Millennium system to provide full library automation functionality, integrated with the latest Web-based technologies. Based in Stockholm, the Nobel Library was the founded to assist the Swedish Academy in selecting the Nobel Laureate in Literature. Modern information technology is of great importance to the Nobel Library. Millennium’s advanced capabilities will enable the library to deal effectively with its unique complexities, including a large number of periodicals originating from many different countries and in multiple languages, as well as numerous book requests from Paris, Madrid, Reykjavik, or Rome, often received at short notice. Åke Erlandsson, Director of the Nobel Library, said, “Millennium was chosen because of its quality and rich functionality. The library wanted a fully integrated and fully functional system, which at the same time offered flexibility and stability. Millennium responds well to our requirements. “Millennium is a modern library system which will be able to handle not only our Swedish characters, but also the more 30 languages which are covered in the Nobel Library. The task for the library is to cover the literature of the world—a mission for which Millennium will be an important instrument.” |
